At a time when the world seems to be discovering what many of us have fortunately known since our teenage years, namely, that women have a pivotal role to play in society and, all the more so, in the world of music, it’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to remind those who’ve forgotten that while rock music boasts many girl bands and female solo artists, not all of them are necessarily American or British, even though we, too, grew up listening to Hole and L7, and fortunately, we’ve had many opportunities to showcase (see our #girlsthatshakears on Instagram in October 2025) numerous artists of all backgrounds, from Voice of Baceprot in Indonesia to Bad Red Bunny in Croatia, and Kill the Princess in France, to name just a few.

The release of this third full-length album by the Czech band Sour Bitch gives us an opportunity to highlight the quartet’s significant body of work over the past eighteen years, dedicated to high-quality punk-influenced alternative rock featuring short tracks (2 to 4 minutes each) and catchy choruses, despite their rather dark and even biting lyrics. Their rhythms, rooted in the ’90s, and retaining that era’s irreverent tone, make them a particularly popular live act thanks to their boundless energy and infectious good humor.

The album You're So Pretty explores toxic relationships, resilience, empowering anger, and personal healing through nine tracks with scathing lyrics: "You seem to think you provoke, but to me you are nothing but a joke. Cause now that I'm well, you should go fuck yourself. You’re so pretty… tell me you love me.” (excerpt from “Pretty Song”). Alternating between rock and punk with driving rhythms, Sour Bitch’s music fits perfectly into today’s disillusioned landscape, like a refreshing outburst, primarily focused on interpersonal relationships, yet one whose broader social implications should by no means be overlooked. We’re betting that many women, and, hopefully, an ever-growing number of men, will relate to this message and will surely be in front of the stage at Sour Bitch’s upcoming shows in Europe.

The release party is scheduled for this Saturday, October 17, in Prague, but the band has already announced dates in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic this winter, as well as the Rebellion Festival in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2027. Definitely one to watch!
