Less experimental than its predecessor, the new album by the Swedish band Les Big Byrd, titled Ruin Everything, is a fireworks display of krautrock melodies that blend ’70s guitars with ’80s keyboards, all carried by spellbinding choruses that evoke both disillusionment and nostalgia, in both English and Swedish, giving the whole a lanky pop vibe. A few tracks (including the title track) retain a hypnotic psychedelic rock approach. Overall, it’s a beautiful, genre-defying album—a rather well-executed sort of generational reconciliation. let's play again!
