Your magazine is getting a makeover

You may have been wondering for the past few weeks why SHAKEARS Magazine hasn’t been posting much on social media. Here’s the answer: a new season, not one of fall, but of renewal. As all kinds of new beginnings unfold, and as moments approach when we’ll have to stand by our core principles, values, and choices, we, too, have chosen to reevaluate the milestones and outlook of the mission that has driven us for over thirty years, in various forms (up to the current SHAKEARS Magazine): to promote music, composers, and works; to invite discovery and surprise, without preconceptions, from the greatest artists to the newest talents; without discrimination based on sound, origin, or genre; for the beauty of musical art and the power of emotions; and for the sake of sharing.

SHAKEARS needed a new site.

And to achieve this, SHAKEARS Magazine needed a platform that could rise to the occasion, which you see before you in this new website. It features more editorial content (since social media doesn’t allow for this level of writing or an in-depth exploration of the works) and showcases the various media formats produced by the team: articles, interviews, concert reviews, profiles, and in-depth features of all kinds, as well as the “Give Me 5” live streams (in collaboration with Olivier), playlists, publications (such as WE Shakears), and the sections we’ve always cherished, to offer a fresh way to explore our published content and better support local artists, music scenes, and industry players (record stores, etc.). Some new formats will complement this approach, while others (like our daily “Shakers,” which you’re familiar with) will take on a slightly different form. Feel free to get involved in our projects as well. The first one, “Destination Record Stores,” aims to catalog record stores around the world, from a music lover’s perspective, nothing less!

We hope, then, that this new website will allow you to appreciate our work even more, work that, let’s not forget, is done on a volunteer basis but draws on decades of experience in music, literature, and journalism. If you, too, are passionate about music and would like to contribute to this adventure in your own way, contact us! If you want to promote and experience your local music scene, contact us!
